New York Fog

April 1988

The photos in this group were taken over the course of a roughly 9-hour period.  I was based in Boston at that point, but I was feeling a bit restless one evening, so on a whim a friend and I jumped on a late train to NYC that got into the City early in the morning.

The train paused in New Haven, where already the fog had set in.  Arriving in Manhattan just after dawn, we emerged into a city transformed, its skyscrapers hidden from view, all its streets turned into murky dead ends.

I have always loved a good fog.
