1991

I remember walking around NYC in the second half of 1990 after Saddam Hussein had invaded Kuwait.  As the chances for American military involvement in the conflict became a certainty, flags started sprouting up all around the City as people became increasingly bellicose.  I found this somewhat ironic considering that the rest of the country viewed New York as some sort of un-American Whore of Babylon, so I started taking pictures of all those flags in order to capture the moment.

The photographs in this series were taken in and around New York City, with occasional excursions to Philadelphia and Elizabeth, NJ, in late 1990 and 1991.
