When the Streetside Stories project came to an end (for me, at least) in April 1990, we were in Albuquerque, NM. I travelled alone by train back to NYC with a one-night layover in Chicago, where I stayed at my aunt and uncle's house in Evanston.
Almost immediately upon arriving back in New York I found myself involved in a project to shoot video for a documentary in Moscow, the photos for which can be found under Projects.
From June 1990 until September 1991, I lived and worked in NYC, mostly on post-production for the documentary, but also shooting the streets of the NY in my spare time. During that period, I took a course on street photography at the ICP given by Richard Sandler, which was the inspiration for my Flag project.
I met Françoise in November, she moved in in February 1991, we got married on May 1st, and left the States in September to begin a new chapter.
